Katie and Rog’s Achnagairn Castle wedding was my final wedding of 2014 and what an incredible way to round off an amazing year, with two absolutely wonderful people in a spectacular Scottish Highlands wedding venue and it even SNOWED! I know that’s not an altogether unusual thing to happen in December in the Scottish Highlands but everyone, including me, was pretty excited about it!
I hadn’t ever done a wedding in Scotland before let alone been an Achnagairn Castle wedding photographer. After a short flight up to Inverness I checked into one of the amazing lodges at Achnagairn (these lodges make it an absolutely perfect wedding venue) and met Katie and Rog ahead of their wedding the next day. I was bowled over by how beautiful the venue is but also how in love these two people are.
The wedding day started for me with the boys at 7am as they went for a swim in Loch Ness. You heard that correctly. And yes, there are photos but they are not necessarily safe for work! The whole day was incredible and full of emotion and finished just after midnight as the band played “Loch Lomond” while Katie and Rog’s guests surrounded them on the massive dancefloor.
There aren’t many UK wedding venues this perfect and I had a ball at Katie and Rog’s Achnagairn Castle wedding. I hope to be able to photograph loads more weddings at Achnagairn Castle weddings, or any Scottish Highland weddings for that matter, in the future!
