Sunny and Yao Yao wanted a very English wedding, and nothing could be more English than Highclere Castle the home of hit ITV show, Downtown Abbey. Highcleare Castle sits on the border of Hampshire and Berkshire. Highclere Castle is a stunning venue and Sunny and Yao Yao had exclusive use on their day making use of the grand and famous rooms of Highclere Castle watched by many on Sunday nights by the fictional Earl of Grantham and his family. Andy was overjoyed to be asked to be their Wedding photographer, and the fact he’d never seen Downtown Abbey at this point didn’t put the couple off!
The morning preparations for Sunny took place in the elegant south facing bedroom of the castle, with wonderful natural light and space. The room led out to the sweeping oak staircase of Highclere Castle so Sunny and her bridesmaids could make an impressive entrance. The ceremony took place in the impressive banqueting hall and was followed by champagne and canapes on the lawns.
Sunny changed into her second dress of the day before joining her husband and guests for the meal and speeches in the historic, yet elegant library. As the sun began to set, Andy escaped with the couple for some portraits in front of the castle and across the lawns of Highclere Castle and created some photographs that captured the couple’s personality perfectly. Like all of the best weddings, the party was awesome and the couple made the most of being surrounded by those they love. What was important to the couple was that the wedding photographer had to capture the personalities of their family and friends and they knew Andy could do this perfectly.
Sunny and Yao Yao’s wedding was grand, elegant and so very English. There was only one thing that was not traditionally English about this wedding, that is that the weather stayed fine all day! Andy loved being Sunny and Yao Yao’s wedding photographer and giving them images they fell in love with.
