SAMUEL DOCKER

Hi, I’m Sam, and I’m not a traditional wedding photographer!

From day one of shooting weddings, I’ve always aimed to capture days and moments in the manner in which I would shoot my own; relaxed and discreet with an editorial and fine art feel thrown into the mix.

I never stop looking for that next shot, never!

I feel exceptionally lucky to be a part of one of the most precious days in a couple’s life, and to me, it’s more than a job. I totally appreciate the importance of my role and never underestimate the trust that my clients put in me. My aim is always to create images that you can look back on in 20-30 years that still make you smile, and maybe even cry!

I never leave a wedding straight after the first dance!

I love the look and feel of film photography, and although I do shoot a little film if requested, I always try to emulate this look through my digital editing. At the same time, I’m very conscious of over-editing, I always want my images to have longevity to them, rather than feeling dated or “fashionable at the time”.

Prior to the wedding, I always like to meet my clients, not just to discuss the plans and timings for your day, but so that we can all get to know each other. After all, I’m being invited to spend a day within your closest circles of friends and family, sometimes in your family home, so I want you to feel completely relaxed and comfortable with having me there.

I’m Sam, and I don’t ask people to say cheese!

  • “Sam was absolutely brilliant – he has a real gift for capturing light and the small moments and you can see from his photos his brilliant reportage style. He is very informal and used both digital and film which we loved. We wanted to record the little details, all the food, the stationary, the flowers, and people having a great time in a natural way. We also had a hilarious photo booth which produced some brilliant and some disturbing shots! Importantly, he is a lovely man, very relaxed and fitted right in on the day – to the point where he was almost invisible to us and the guests but he didn’t miss anything – and we were keen to get him to stay and party at the end which is always a good sign! Sam boxed and wrapped our photos beautifully and sent them to us when we got back from honeymoon, we were really lucky to find him!”

Sam’s approach to wedding photography allows him to capture small and intimate moments in amongst the key parts of a wedding. Combining these with a documentary and reportage style of photography creates a beautiful story of every wedding he shoots. Nothing is ever staged nor forced, Sam documents the day and moments as they unfold, in a discreet, relaxed manner.

Sam treats every wedding as a totally unique day, always looking for the next shot, where the light falls, anticipating the next “moment” and continually looking for a unique shot, something individual to that wedding and couple. He values the relationships with his clients along with their friends and family, through this approach, Sam is also able to create portraits that feel natural and unposed.
